Requirements

Continuing Education (CE) is an educational system which helps keep a dental assistant’s skills current, encourages professional growth, and increases value to employers and patients alike.

The MDAA is constantly seeking out and offering CE opportunities for Manitoba dental assistants. It is the responsibility of all dental assistants to take advantage of these educational offerings. Every dental assistant has the responsibility to assess their own performance and to maintain their competencies to maintain license requirements.

The Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) has established continuing education requirements for the ongoing certification of registered dental assistants. A dental assistant must obtain a minimum of 36 credit hours during a three-year cycle. A minimum of 2 credit hours must be obtained in an approved sponsor infection prevention and control activity or program during a 3 year cycle.

Note: Credit hours in excess of these requirements cannot be carried forward to a subsequent three-year cycle.

To view current MDA Bylaws regarding continuing education see: MDA Continuing Education Bylaw.

Please Note: CE sessions that you attend in person you must present your continuing Education Scan Card.

The MDAA offers CE sessions throughout the year, offering at least one infectious control lecture during the year.
