Biography

Kathy Purves spent 17 years in the dental field as a dental assistant, working in different provinces.  She obtained her B.A. from the University of Manitoba, and a B.Sc. from the University of Winnipeg.  Kathy has been with Germiphene, a Canadian company, for more than 25 years.  Germiphene, based out of Brantford, Ont., is committed to excellence in Infection Control for the healthcare field.  Kathy has used her dental and science background to her advantage, speaking on relevant information regarding Infection Prevention and Control guidelines, around the world.  She has lectured to dental professionals in Africa, Southeast Asia, South Pacific and Europe.

Presentation Overview

The key to reaching financial and professional goals lies in your ability to effectively present treatment to patients. Without patients accepting the treatment they require; you cannot put into practice all the necessary clinical skills and knowledge you have worked so hard to learn and master. The consultation (case presentation) process is a vital step in the “patient’s journey.” While great focus is placed on honing clinical skills, many dental professionals overlook the development of critical case presentation skills. This presentation has been designed for dental professionals to learn new interpersonal and communication tools via a simplistic step by step process. The “real world” strategies and tools will have immediate impact on influencing patients to value their oral health as the gateway to overall body wellness and say “yes” to treatment.

  • Building a communication foundation
  • How to effectively communicate with patients to build trust and value for dental treatment
  • How to educate patients effectively to maximize understanding and retention for dental treatment
  • Identify and understand the common barriers to treatment acceptance
  • Identify strategies to overcome these barriers and patient objections
 

Biography

Andrew graduated from the Asper School of Business University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree in Marketing & Human Resource Management. He has over fifteen-years of dental experience as a Clinical and Laboratory Specialist with Nobel Biocare and Densplysirona in the field of implantology. Andrew spent two years as an implant Treatment Coordinator with Shine Dental Group. He has received specialized Practice Development & Communication training from Dr. David Schwab & Associates Inc., and Qube Learning International.
