New Infection Prevention and Control Practices

Kathy will provide a review and discussion of the New Infection Prevention and Control Practices, to be implemented in January of 2023. Kathy encourages RDAs to review the IPAC document here and attend with any questions for discussion.

Biography

Kathy Purves spent 17 years in the dental field as a dental assistant, working in different provinces.  She obtained her B.A. from the University of Manitoba, and a B.Sc. from the University of Winnipeg.  Kathy has been with Germiphene, a Canadian company, for more than 25 years.  Germiphene, based out of Brantford, Ont., is committed to excellence in Infection Control for the healthcare field.  Kathy has used her dental and science background to her advantage, speaking on relevant information regarding Infection Prevention and Control guidelines, around the world.  She has lectured to dental professionals in Africa, Southeast Asia, South Pacific and Europe.

Presentation Overview
Dr. Kaufmann will be speaking on x-rays, cbCT ( cone-beam computed tomography) in an Endodontic Practice and also how it can be practiced with improvements in General Practice.

Biography

Dr. Kaufmann attended the University of Manitoba, obtaining his license to practice Dentistry (D.M.D.) in 1980 Entering the Postgraduate Endodontic program of Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry starting in 1984, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Endodontics.

Since 1986, Dr. Kaufmann has operated a solo specialty practice with an emphasis on patient accessibility, emergency treatment and incorporation of newer digital techniques.His staff includes four registered Phase II assistants. Dr. Kaufmann has served as Endodontic clinical demonstrator at the University of Manitoba and has provided didactic instruction for the 3rd Year classes.

His favorite lecture topics are: Endodontic diagnosis, Incorporation of digital technology into dental practice, Nonsurgical Endodontic treatment and Practical Considerations/Controversies in Endodontics.
